All the way with Obama?

Vintage Rendell:

"He is a little like Adlai Stevenson," Rendell mused. "You ask him a question, and he gives you a six-minute answer. And the six-minute answer is smart as all get out. It's intellectual. It's well framed. It takes care of all the contingencies. But it's a lousy sound bite."

"We've got to start smacking back in short, understandable bites," he said, noting, "Everybody is nervous as all get out. Everybody says we ought to be ahead by 10, 15 points. What the heck is going on?"

I actually agree with Rendell completley! He should just tell it directly to Obama, and his team, and not the press!!

Here's a good soundbite: "Everybody is nervous as all get out." 1950s, here I come.

It's amazing to see some of these Clintonistas whining about Obama. They rarely broke publicly to trash Hillary when she was getting her ass beaten in the primaries. Something tells me this advice is coming more from jealousy than goodwill. Fast Eddie as usual is loves the sound of his voice.

My friends, for 5 years John McCain didn't go all the way with Obama. That is because he was in jail, as a Vietnam POW.

Ah, ED...What's going on is that Pelosi, Dean, and the Superdelegates 'selected' Obama to be the nominee. IF the people had been allowed to speak/count, then our gal Hillary would have been the rightful 'elected' nominee and WE WOULD BE AHEAD BY 10-15 POINTS RIGHT NOW!

Clintons divide a nation. Now, the democratic party. Still, Obama will pull it off. Blue crush is coming. PUMA will be extinct soon anyway.

What the heck is going on? Its only August. If you make John McCain look like the dangerous hothead he actually is in summer advertising, by election time this would be old news. The Obama campaign is so smart they are waiting for September and October to fire the big guns. Obviously they've seen all the great anti-McCain stuff on youtube. Being 15 points ahead in August is meaningless (ask Dukakis). Don't worry; these are the same smart people who helped a freshman senator defeat the mighty Clintons...something considered impossible a year ago. They will not go quietly into this good night.

Hillary promised Ed a cushy position when she was elected. For all of his shilling, he finds himself out with the old guard. Sucks for him.

When was the last time there was a 10 or 15 point victory by Democrats? That's crazy. Presidential races are ALWAYS close. Hillary would not have been ahead by 10-15 points. This will be a very close race. Simple as that. This is not the time to second guess. You don't chew someone's ear while their in the midst of battle. This is the time to be supportive and helpful in the victory - not the time to vent. Clinton's surrogates comments is one of the reasons I believe the Clinton's are bent on sabotaging the Obama campaign. They've done it before with Al Gore's presidency. You can't expect a selfish player to suddenly be all about the team. Obama has to find a way to win without Clinton. She'll say the right things, but do the wrong things through surrogates.

If Ed really just wanted Obama to know he felt that way, he'd tell him. But he keeps making these little comments every day undercutting Obama, like a lot of the others who backed the person that lost. If he really had any balls, he'd stay home if he thinks Obama won't win. Interesting though that Obama is up in PA by 6 points.

I am absolutely stunned that people even consider this man a viable consideration for President. has ties to Bill Ayers that isnt an opinion its a clearly established fact. of Ayers

I am absolutely stunned that people even consider this man a viable consideration for President. This is yet another example of Obama being surrounded by people that do not represent good decision making. At the least Obama is involved by ingorance and I dont even want to think about at worst. The guy is a socialist. I can not believe that most Americans are so uneducated as to not be able to differenciate liberalism, conservativism and socialism.

so- I'll bite, Ayers spook. Do you think Obama wants to resurrect The Weathermen? You think he wants to become President so that he can turn nukes on the U.S. and we can all go up in a glorious blaze? Why exactly do you imagine Obama being briefly acquainted with Bill Ayers means? Do you think when he's President he's going to put you and your loved ones in prison? You rave about him being acquainted w/Ayers as being indicative of something- what, exactly?

Rendell is sounding more and more like bill Clinton. Both are bitter and jealous old men of the young and dynamic and brilliant Obama. Bill is no longer relevant and the Clinton era is over. Rendell has lost his power and influence because that was tied to the Clinton's fortune and power. Both are now out of luck and out of power. They both know their time is passing by and a new generation is taking over, led by Obama. It's now Obama's party, Obama's era and Obama's time and both Rendell and Bill Clinton are jealous and bitter.

I don't think Rendell understands, that if Obama DOES lose PA, the fingers are going to be pointing at him and Sen. Clinton. Maybe that's what he wants. I don't think that's what Sen. Clinton wants. Some friend.

His further comments aluded to people needing to know that Obama is also "angry" about the crummy economy and other issues like the rest of us. Rather ironic that the Dems are worried that their guy is too detached and doesn't appear to the average Joe/Jane to be angry about their issues at the same time they are knocking McCain for being a guy with a temper.

To the Rightwing trolls so concerned about Ayres. No one cares! It's like the culture wars you wingers are so much into. it's old, it's tiresome and no one is paying attention. The 60s were over a long time ago and NO ONE CARES. That is why your little 'scandal' is not getting traction. Because most of the people have moved on and don't care about some kid named Ayres way back in ancient history.

Soundbytes don't contain solutions -- it's the reason we're facing so many difficult problems. Every soundbyte machine gets overwhelmed when it comes to the details.

I am a white female, age 60, and a major Obama supporter. But Rendell is right. Obama talks in paragraphs and it is starting to drive me nuts. And I also think he blew it by not choosing HRC as his running mate. I am not an HRC fan, but I have a killer instinct to win. And you have to win first. HRC would have energized this ticket, which it sorely needs. Biden does not bring energy. He has seniority, but HRC brings more gravitas and energy.

For all you Democratic nubes out there--the Ayers problem (I am skeptical MCain will exploit it--he should just use it as a sound bite in passing and especially so in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin and Minnesota--where Ayers and his ILK are better known. The association with Ayers, however brief, demonstrates a lack of awareness. It's like the country of Georgia applying for membership to NATO without the Russia's permission. It shows a lack of perspicacity.

Well, let's talk about judgment. John McCain was ready to invade Iraq after 9/11 even before George Bush. Do you want to explain to us how invading Iraq (while Bin Laden was in Afghanistan) was good judgment? And- after you explain it to us- why don't you explain it to the parents of the more than 4,000 U.S. soldiers who died over there.

Points to consider for the speech, Barry. I pledge that Joe Biden and his gorgeous wife will be in adjoining rooms (like at a Holiday Inn) at the the White House, in case I get a 3am call or text message. Because I know, In taking Joe's advice, "He said he thinks I can be ready, but right now he doesn't believe that I am. Cause the Presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training. I promise I will be much better than Moses to lead you Dems out of exile. The oceans will stop rising and the planet will be "spun" on a new liberal axis to quell the Republican evil doers. I will study all government pay grades and I will only make decisions at the pay grades I am comfortable with. I will make GSA purchase decisions on houses with adjacent lots, where I can get below-market rates, and get interest free slum lord financing. I will make decisions to finance only friends like Father Phleggar, Tony Rezko, and Ayers Chicago School Project. I have learned from these decisions, while at a lower pay grade, so I can recognize, when I am in over my pay grade
